Fixing the speed issue in version 3.3.437

I have upgraded Silhouette Studio on my MacBook Pro to test it out and also found that the program had slowed down to a crawl.

This type of thing is often due to a setting in software so I did some investigating.

Sure enough, after running a bunch of tests and trying different things, I found that there is a setting that can be turned off to fix this problem.

In Preferences, select Advanced and then scroll down until you see the Include Cut Data option. Make sure this option is not selected to make Silhouette Studio faster.

One nice benefit is that the program loads almost instantaneously now.

  2. YOU ROCK!!!! But I am still afraid to update. I am having no issues other than i can't cut HTV on the HTV setting. Think I will stay with my older v3 for the moment. ;)

    1. I would still say that unless you are having problems, wait until you have a need to update.

  11. I've been scouring the internet tying to figure out what was going on. Everything has been seemingly fine until just a few days ago when I was working on a file with lots of pieces, and Studio crashed when I tried to save it. Luckily, I was able to recover it and save it properly, but Studio was never the same after that. Every movement across the screen was painstakingly slow. Saving a file was taking about 30 seconds to bring up the save screen, longer for larger files.

So last night, I upgraded to 4.2. Of course I didn't realize that this version would require the Cameo to have updated firmware, so when I cut my first file, it took an HOUR to cut what the software said would be a 6 minute cut. So I updated the firmware, and tried again. The Cameo cut just fine, but the software was still having trouble. Slow to load, slow to save, choppy movement when dragging images across the screen, etc.

Thank you for sharing this settings change with us! I never would have figured this out on my own. Now my software and Cameo are running like a dream again!
